Ingredients

For the Pizza
  • 1 prepared pizza crust store-bought or homemade
  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 12 –15 pepperoni slices or preferred toppings
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh basil optional
For the Homemade Hot Honey
  • ½ cup pure honey
  • teaspoons red chili flakes
  • ½ teaspoon apple cider vinegar optional

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Pizza tray or baking sheet
  • Small bowl
  • Spoon
  • knife
  • cutting board

Method

Step 1: Preheat the Oven
  1. Preheat the oven to 245°C (475°F). If using a pizza stone, place it inside while the oven heats.
Step 2: Prepare the Pizza Base
  1. Place the pizza crust on a baking tray. Brush the edges lightly with olive oil for a golden, crispy finish. For extra crispness, pre-bake the crust for 2–3 minutes.
Step 3: Add Sauce and Cheese
  1. Spread an even layer of pizza sauce over the base. Add shredded mozzarella cheese, leaving the edges uncovered.
Step 4: Arrange the Toppings
  1. Place pepperoni slices evenly over the cheese. You can also use mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, jalapeños, or other preferred toppings.
Step 5: Bake the Pizza
  1. Bake for 10–12 minutes until the cheese is bubbling and the crust turns golden brown.
Step 6: Prepare the Hot Honey
  1. While the pizza bakes, gently warm the honey. Stir in red chili flakes and apple cider vinegar. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
Step 7: Finish and Serve
  1. Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately drizzle the hot honey over the top. Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Slice and serve hot.

Notes

• Never drizzle the honey before baking, as the sugar may burn.
• Use pure honey for the best flavor.
• For extra crispy crust, preheat the baking tray and bake on the lower rack.
• Vegetarian toppings such as mushrooms, bell peppers, caramelized onions, olives, and jalapeños work beautifully.
• White sauce can replace tomato sauce for a creamier variation.
• Homemade hot honey can be stored in a sealed glass jar at room temperature for up to one month.
• Leftover pizza can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in a pan for the crispiest results.
