  • 4 cheese slices cheddar or your favorite cheese
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato sliced
  • 1 small red onion sliced
  • 8 pickle slices
  • 4 tablespoons burger sauce or mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons butter for toasting buns

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • - Measuring cups and spoons
  • cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Frying pan, grill pan, or barbecue grill
  • spatula
  • Instant-read thermometer (recommended)

Method

Step 1 – Prepare the Chicken Mixture
  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, salt, Worcestershire sauce, and parsley. Mix gently until everything is just combined.
Step 2 – Shape the Patties
  1. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape into burger patties about 1.5 cm (½ inch) thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help it cook evenly.
Step 3 – Cook the Patties
  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet or preheat a grill over medium heat.
  2. Cook the patties for about 5–6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 74°C (165°F).
  3. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty and allow it to melt.
Step 4 – Toast the Buns
  1. Spread butter lightly on the cut sides of the burger buns and toast them until lightly golden.
Step 5 – Assemble the Burgers
  1. Spread burger sauce on the bottom bun.
  2. Layer with lettuce, the cooked chicken patty, melted cheese, tomato slices, onion slices, and pickles.
  3. Finish with the top bun.
Step 6 – Serve
  1. Serve immediately with French fries, potato wedges, coleslaw, salad, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Avoid overmixing the chicken mixture to keep the patties tender.
  • Keep the patties chilled for 15–20 minutes before cooking if time allows.
  • Toasting the buns improves both flavor and texture.
  • Chicken thighs can be used for a juicier burger.
  • Add jalapeños or hot sauce for a spicy version.
  • Store cooked patties separately from the buns and toppings for the best texture.
